“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”
(Revelation 5:6)
Revelation 5:6 presents a majestic vision of Christ, the Lamb of God, standing at the center of heaven’s throne. He is described as having seven horns and seven eyes, which symbolize perfect power and perfect knowledge through the fullness of the Spirit sent forth into all the earth. This imagery teaches that nothing escapes the gaze of Christ—not in the world, not in the church, and not in our hearts. His sight is penetrating, complete, and holy.
This truth is a comfort for the believer, for the Lord who sees into the depths of the heart also sees the work of grace He has planted there. The journey of the soul from sin and separation from God into holiness and nearness to God is the sanctifying work of the Spirit through the sovereign grace of Christ who watches, guides, and perfects His saints.
What was lost in the Fall—innocence, purity, and sweet communion with God—is being restored through Christ. This is why Jesus said, “Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). Sin corrupts, hardens, and fills the soul with noise and self‑will. But grace renews, softens, quiets, and reorients the soul toward God. As the Spirit draws the soul back to its Maker, the false charms of the world begin to lose their grip. The believer begins to hunger for holiness rather than vanity, for purity rather than passion, and for the smile of Christ rather than the applause of men.[1]
Scripture often describes believers as trees planted by rivers of water (Psalm 1:3) and as flowers in the garden of the Lord. Each one grows under the same divine care, nourished by the Spirit and the Word and bathed in the warmth of the Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2). Though each plant differs in beauty, fragrance, and form, each contributes to the glory of the garden. So it is in the kingdom of God: diversity without rivalry, beauty without boasting, growth without envy. The Spirit brings unity, peace, and delight among the children of God.
This renewal is a continual work. Day by day the soul is refreshed, corrected, strengthened, and filled with new delight in God. Thus the soul rises, by degrees, into deeper communion and clearer sight of God.
Yet there remains a rest for the people of God, a day in which every stain shall be washed away and every tear wiped dry. This journey will end in everlasting rest and praise before His throne. Until then, may our souls yield fully to His renewing Spirit, praying always for a heart wholly devoted to the Lord.
Contemplations:
- The Eyes of the Lamb. Revelation 5:6 assures me that Christ sees every part of my life. Nothing is hidden from Him, and this truth fills me with both comfort and reverence. He sees my weakness, my efforts to obey, and my secret struggles. And His continual gaze is always one of incomparable love.
- Born of Water and the Spirit. My renewal does not consist of outward reform but rather of inward transformation by the Spirit. I must daily seek cleansing, remembering that true obedience flows from a heart that is continually renewed by divine power.
- A Garden of Souls. God has made each believer unique and precious. I will rejoice in the beauty of God reflected in others, for we flourish together under His hand, all drawing from the same living Fountain.
- The Quiet Life of Meekness. Christ leads me into quiet stillness, teaching me that I have no need to strive for recognition or control because true rest is found in being humble before God and content in His love.
Prayer (Thanksgiving)
Lord Jesus, eternal Lamb and gentle Shepherd, I thank You for seeing me fully and loving me truly. Your eyes search my heart, not to condemn but to cleanse, shape, and restore. I praise You for the gift of spiritual sight, for opening my eyes to behold Your beauty and my need for grace.
I thank You that You do not leave me in the wilderness of sin, but draw me into Your garden of holiness, watering me by Your Word and refreshing me by Your Spirit.
Gracious Lord, I thank You that You do not despise my weaknesses, but tenderly lift me when I fall and strengthen me to rise again. Your patience is infinite, Your faithfulness unchanging, Your mercy ever new. I thank You for the renewing work of the Spirit, who breaks the power of pride, quiets restless desires, and teaches my soul to rest in Your love.
Let gratitude fill me as I see how far You have brought me, and let hope sustain me for the journey yet ahead. Cause my heart to love meekness, cherish purity, and seek Your presence above all else.
May my soul daily flower under Your care, bearing fruit that brings honor to Your name. And as You continue the work You began, I give thanks that You will finish it in glory, where I shall see You face to face, and rest forever in Your light.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
