“The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.” (John 3:35)
The love of the Father toward the Son stands among the deepest and most glorious truths revealed in Scripture. Before creation existed, before angels worshiped, before the worlds were formed, the Father delighted eternally in the Son. This love is perfect, unchanging, and infinite because it belongs to the very life of the triune God.
John declares that the Father “hath given all things into his hand.” This gift concerns the mediatorial glory of Christ. The Father entrusted to the Son the whole work of redemption, the gathering of the church, the communication of grace, the revelation of truth, and the final accomplishment of His eternal purpose. All the treasures of salvation stand in Christ’s hands.
This fills the soul with adoration because nothing concerning redemption remains uncertain or scattered. The Father committed all things to Christ. The grace that saves sinners, the truth that enlightens minds, the gifts that strengthen the church, and the glory awaiting believers all belong to Him.
The work of the Holy Spirit magnifies this truth further. Christ teaches that the Spirit glorifies the Son by taking what belongs to Christ and revealing it to His people. The Spirit does not establish another gospel or bring a different revelation. He comes to make known the truth and grace already belonging to Christ.[1]
This reveals the beautiful harmony within the Trinity. The Father sends the Son. The Son accomplishes redemption. The Spirit applies redemption. Yet their work remains perfectly united. The Spirit glorifies the Son just as the Son glorifies the Father. Divine persons act distinctly while remaining perfectly one in purpose.
The passage especially exalts Christ’s sufficiency. All things the Father has concerning salvation belong to Him. Every grace needed by believers rests in Christ. Wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, comfort, strength, preservation, and glory all flow from His fullness.
This truth humbles human pride. Men naturally seek spiritual resources within themselves or from earthly sources. Yet God placed all things in Christ’s hand. Outside Him there is no life, truth, or saving grace. The believer therefore looks away from self entirely.
The passage also magnifies the authority of Christ. The Father entrusted all power and government to Him. The church belongs to Christ. The Spirit serves Christ’s glory. Redemption centers upon Christ. History itself moves toward the visible reign of Christ.
This truth comforts believers deeply. Their salvation rests not in unstable human hands but in Christ’s. The One loved eternally by the Father holds all things necessary for their preservation. Nothing can separate His people from the grace committed to Him.
The work of the Spirit continues this comfort. He reveals Christ through the written Word, illumines minds, sanctifies hearts, strengthens faith, and communicates grace according to Christ’s will. His ministry constantly directs believers back to Christ.
The passage also calls believers into worship. If all things are Christ’s, then all praise belongs to Him. Every blessing enjoyed traces back to His fullness. Every spiritual benefit comes through His hand.
Thus, John 3:35 leads believers into adoration before the eternal love of the Father for the Son and the mediatorial glory entrusted to Christ. All things concerning redemption belong to Him. The Spirit glorifies Him. The church depends upon Him. The Father delights in Him. Therefore the believer worships Christ as the infinitely sufficient Savior and King.

When I think about the Father loving the Son before the world existed, I feel my mind drawn upward into holy wonder. This love existed before creation, before redemption, before history itself. It reminds me that the center of all things is not man but God Himself. I find joy knowing that salvation flows from this eternal love within the Trinity. - My Dependence Upon Christ’s Fullness
I often feel my weakness and insufficiency. My faith fluctuates, my understanding remains limited, and my strength fails. Yet this passage reminds me that all things have been placed into Christ’s hands. Everything I need spiritually already exists perfectly in Him. Prayer (Adoration):
Most glorious Father, I adore You for Your eternal love toward the Son. Before the worlds were formed, You delighted perfectly in Him. This holy love stands above creation itself and reveals the beauty and fullness of Your divine life.
Lord Jesus Christ, I worship You because all things have been placed into Your hand. The Father entrusted to You the whole work of redemption. Salvation, grace, truth, wisdom, and glory belong to You. Nothing necessary for the church lies outside Your care and authority.
I praise You because You are perfectly sufficient for Your people. Every grace needed by believers exists fully in You. When I lack wisdom, strength, comfort, or faith, I need not search elsewhere. All fullness dwells in You abundantly.
Holy Spirit, I adore You for glorifying Christ continually. You reveal His truth, apply His grace, and direct hearts toward Him. You do not establish another message but unfold the riches already found in Christ. I worship You for this beautiful ministry.
Father, I praise You for the harmony of redemption. You sent the Son. The Son accomplished salvation. The Spirit applies it. Yet all Your works remain perfectly united. Nothing in redemption lacks wisdom or beauty.
Lord Jesus, I adore You as Head of the church and King over all things. Nations change and powers rise and fall, yet all authority remains in Your hand. My salvation rests safely beneath Your government.
I thank You that believers are preserved not by their own strength but by Your fullness. What You hold cannot be lost. What You purpose cannot fail. This gives peace and assurance to my soul.
Let my heart increasingly rest in Your sufficiency. Deliver me from self-reliance and teach me to draw continually from the riches committed to You by the Father.
Finally, Lord, receive my worship because every spiritual blessing I possess has come through You. Every mercy, every grace, every comfort traces back to Your hand. Let my life increasingly reflect praise to the One in whom all things dwell. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
