“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Tim. 2:13)

When God makes a promise, He fulfills it perfectly because He knows all and has the power to carry out all that He knows and desires. But one of the most amazing aspects of all is that He has directed many of His promises to great benefit for us when we walk before Him in the light of His truth.

A beautiful example of this is the account of Solomon seeking God’s help in his early reign as King over Israel. Instead of asking for something in a self manner, Solomon prayed for wisdom to govern God’s people. In return, listen to God’s promise to Solomon:

Because you did not ask for riches, wealth or honor … but for wisdom and knowledge that you may rule My people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings who were before you has possessed nor those who will come after you, (2 Chron. 1:11-12).

And God made good on His Word – so much so that the Queen of Sheba had to come see for herself whether all this talk of King Solomon’s wisdom and wealth lived up to its billing. Her response? “The half was not told to me…your wisdom and prosperity exceeded the fame of which I heard!” (1 Kings 10:7).

Our God, this same promise-keeping God, stands ready to make good on His promises to you and me when we seek His face, walk in His truth, and come humbly, with contrite heart before Him. Do you want to see God’s promises fulfilled in your life? Then pursue righteousness, pursue holiness, pursue God daily. He is faithful. He is the Great Promise-Keeper.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matt. 6:33)

  1. Lord, You, the Father of mercies, have not left me in charge of my own happiness and comfort but wholly fixed it on an irreversible covenant of grace, transacted through Christ, and guaranteed with promises of mercy ratified and confirmed to me by the broad seal of heaven. This You confirmed by Your oath – to which I run daily for refuge even in the midst of my unfaithfulness. When I am pursued by the guilt of my sin, I look to Your covenant with me, through Christ, which is my anchor of faith when I’m assaulted and buffeted by the fury of Satan’s temptations. Help me cast off sin and live in Your grace and freedom.
  1. Heavenly Father, Almighty and Everlasting God, You have safely brought me to the beginning of this new day, and I ask that You defend me throughout the day by Your Mighty Power. May all my activities be directed by You that I may always do what is righteous in Your sight through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  1. Lord, help me to be thoroughly persuaded of Your love in Your covenant to me. Help me daily anticipate the revelation of Your kingdom, power, and glory in my life, through Your own goodness and mercy in Christ, prepared for me before the foundation of the world.
